72 Hours in Lisbon
from someone who opened a hotel there (so knows what she's talking about) plus my favourite things for good measure and where exactly to get those swallows!
We were lucky enough to go to Lisbon a couple weekends ago with good friends (whose gorgeous rainbow home we toured together last month). We had the best time because Lisbon is incredible and also because Anna founded and helped design a cool, family-friendly, comfortable, and all around memorable hotel in the best neighbourhood. And let me tell you, taking over an entire floor of a (small, boutique) hotel, having all the (six) kids stay/party in one massive suite, and being on the same booking as the boss lady, was a very fun experience. It was also helpful that Anna knows Lisbon well and knew just where to take us.

I’d been to Lisbon once before but loved it so much more this time. Probably because the first time I had a brand new baby attached to me and lived under the dark veil of sleep deprivation so hadn’t noticed the countless amazing little independent bars, shops, cafes and restaurants. Every corner, every bite and every person we met was a delight.
The hotel itself was faultless. Every room is a little apartment with a living area and kitchenette and so thoughtfully designed, from the micro-cement bathrooms to the bespoke worktops. It blends the independence of apartment living with daily room service, a concierge, a bar, and an amazing (included) breakfast at the cafe next door. I’d been attentively following Anna’s years-long design process, like a good friend should, and even used her sourcing-for-the-hotel trip as an excuse to accompany her to Morocco a few years ago, so it was even more fun to see her design choices come to life.

And now what you’re here for: Anna’s top Lisbon recommendations with mine added in for good measure at the bottom. They’ll last you more than 72 hours!

Lunch
Ramiro, all time classic. Indoors. Hustle bustle. Shellfish. Garlic.
Monte Mar, seafood on the water. Terrace. Also nice for dinner.
